Nasal Irrigation is the process of cleansing the nasal cavity by rinsing it with warm water which contains salt. (a saline solution)  It is recommended for adults as well as children over two years old and has many health benefits:

• It removes excess mucous which if allowed to remain could increase the risk of upper respiratory maladies such as allergies

        Cleansing the nasal cavity may be safely performed with the use of a Neti Pot.  As a former chronic sufferer of seasonal allergies, I can attest to the relief which you can experience by regular use of the Neti Pot.  As you know, I am advocate of natural healing modalities, and therefore the use of prescription or over-the counter medication is a definite last resource for me.  I am not yet completely allergy-free, however regular use of the Neti Pot has reduced my former chronic allergies and sinusitis by more than 70%. 

        I used to have to avoid trees and parks; I could not walk past a freshly mowed lawn without sneezing uncontrollably; I frequently had to hold a wet facecloth over my nose to try and control the sneezing…the list goes on. These are photographs of the Neti Pot which I use.  Next to it is my container of sea salt.  The Neti Pot comes with a spoon which is  sized for the exact amout of sea salt needed.  There are also pre-mixed saline solutions which you may purchase.

***Remember to wash your Neti Pot with warm, sudsy water after every use.

 This is a large container of sea salt which I purchased from the supermarket.  You can also purchase sea salt from health food stores  and pharmacies.  It is very accessible.  Note:  my husband and I also use sea salt for cooking!
